Employment opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students are available during the summer and throughout the school year. In the field, students are trained to use EDM (electronic distance measurer) and GPS (global positioning satellite) equipment. Thesis and dissertation research topics, based on the Department's archaeological research programs and field schools, also exist for graduate students, along with employment and assistantship possibilities.

Since September 1994, the Department of Anthropology has provided funding/employment for more than 60 graduate and undergraduate students.
