Undergraduate Scholarships

2011-12

Application for Undergraduate Scholarship

The Department of Anthropology will award TEN $500 scholarships on a competitive basis to undergraduate majors in the Department of Anthropology.

  • These scholarships are intended to support individual research projects in anthropology and/or to support student participation in a TAMU-sponsored archaeological field school. Ideally, students who are working on individual research projects will be receiving Directed Studies credit (ANTH 485) and students who are participating in a field school will be registered for field school (ANTH 330).
  • Each applicant must have a Faculty Advisor who is willing to supervise their project. In the case of archaeological field school, the Faculty Advisor would be the Director of the Field School.
  • Each application should include a letter of recommendation. The letter may come from the Faculty Advisor, or another professor (preferably in the Anthropology Department.)
  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to also apply for other sources of funding to support their projects, as applicable, including:
    • Undergraduate Research Honors
    • Glasscock Center for Humanities Research Undergraduate Research Fellows
    • Jordan Institute for International Research
  • These scholarships are for projects that will be completed during the Spring 2012 or Summer 2012. All funds must be used by the end of August 2012. Funds may be used to cover travel costs, field school course fees, purchase of equipment and books, and other research expenses.
  • The Deadline for Applications is February 13th.
